Convert CSV to JSONL for AI Training

JSONL — one JSON object per line — is the de facto input format for fine-tuning and evaluating large language models. Most datasets, however, still ship as CSV. This converter turns a CSV table into clean JSONL in a single click, preparing it for data pipelines, batch inference and embedding workflows.

One Record Per Line

Every CSV row becomes a single JSON object with your column names as keys. The output is valid JSONL, ready to stream line by line or feed directly into tools like OpenAI fine-tuning, Hugging Face datasets or vector databases.

Handles Quotes, Commas and Newlines

Real-world CSVs contain quoted fields, escaped double quotes (""), and even commas or line breaks inside values. The parser understands standard CSV escaping rules, so fields like "Bob, Jr." or multi-line notes convert without breaking the table structure.

Auto-Detects Delimiters

Choose Auto-detect and the tool counts , ; and tab characters outside quotes in the first line to pick the right delimiter automatically. You can also force a specific delimiter for unusual files.

Works With or Without a Header

If your first row is a header, it becomes the JSON keys. If not, uncheck the option and supply your own comma-separated column names — or let the tool generate column1, column2 and so on automatically.

Private and Offline-Ready

Everything runs client-side. Your CSV is parsed by your browser's own JavaScript engine and never uploaded, making it safe for proprietary or sensitive datasets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my CSV uploaded to a server?

No. The converter runs entirely in your browser. Your CSV never leaves your device.

How are quoted fields and commas inside values handled?

The built-in parser understands standard CSV escaping: quoted fields, doubled double quotes ("") and commas or line breaks inside quotes are all preserved correctly.

Can I convert a CSV that has no header row?

Yes. Uncheck "First row is header" and either type your own comma-separated column names or leave the field empty to auto-name columns as column1, column2, and so on.

Is the tool free to use?

Yes. The CSV to JSONL converter is free and requires no registration or installation.
